Ferric Chloride
FeCl₃ | CAS: 7705-08-0 | HS: 28273990
Product Description
Ferric Chloride is one of the most effective coagulants in water and wastewater treatment, operating efficiently across a wide pH range (4–11) and performing particularly well in cold water, high-phosphorus effluents, and conditions where alum underperforms. It is the coagulant of choice for phosphorus removal in wastewater treatment to meet discharge standards. In electronics manufacturing, FeCl₃ solution is the standard etchant for copper printed circuit boards. MITCHEM supplies anhydrous and solution grades in UN-certified packaging with full hazmat documentation.
Applications by Industry
Superior coagulant for industrial effluent with high suspended solids, phosphorus, and heavy metals; faster floc formation and denser, faster-settling sludge versus alum in most raw water conditions.
Preferred reagent for chemical phosphorus precipitation in municipal wastewater treatment to meet effluent P limits and prevent eutrophication in receiving water bodies.
FeCl₃ solution is the standard copper etchant for printed circuit board manufacturing — selectively dissolving copper tracks in chemical milling of PCB substrates.
Used in metal surface treatment for scale removal, cleaning of stainless steel welds, and preparation of iron and steel surfaces prior to coating.
